Sword of the Stars Update

Hello all my SotS friends! While I’m here waiting for the flight out of this frozen midwest, I found out that the update for SotS has finally been released. If you’re playing this game (and if you aren’t why not??!?) you really need to get this update. It changes a lot of things for the better.

KC Trip

I’ll be in KC Tuesday and Wednesday night on business. Staying at the brother’s place. I might be up for a dinner if any KC friends are free either night and I’m not giving the San Deigans a tour around KC. Call my cell to set up a time for drinks or dinner.

Inside the Home Pics

Well we got the house photo ready. Just don’t ask me about the garage. :)

Amy was playing around with a new AutoCAD symbols library and after seeing there were cars and brick walls now available, got a little crazy embellishing the floorplan of our new place.  Click below to download the pdf file.  She thinks “it helps put the pictures into perspective.”

New Home Pics

The gallery has some pictures of the outside of “The Compound” our new rental home. Got the new lawn installed this morning. Hopefully the holiday will give us time to get the inside completed as well and maybe even get some more stuff done on the garage.

Something Nice in the Paper Today

It’s interesting that the KC “Secret Santa” was one of the top stories listed on the front page of the San Diego paper. I will happily claim credit today for being from a place where nice people do nice things.

Bill O’Reilly Hates Me

…and not because of how I voted two weeks ago. Nope, Bill-O has reached full blown “kids on mah lawn!” mode blaming the inevitable fall of all things American on “the machines” and specifically video games and iPods. Pretty soon he’ll be ranting about TV and that Rock and/or Roll all the kids are hooked on.

Remember every time you play Bejewled the terrorists win!

No Pics Yet

Took some nice pictures of the outside of the new house yesterday, but didn’t upload them before the wife took off with the camera for work this morning. I’ll try to get the upload done tonight. Inside is a little too messy for pics yet, but I have high hopes for the 4-day weekend to get the house into shape.

Weekend

The house is coming together. Should have some pics this weekend. The big push is to get the garage organized enough for a car or two. We’re getting a patch of lawn installed early next week so Roe has a little green to romp about in. Lawncare is an all year thing around here which is kinda cool.
I went through all my CCG stuff for Netrunner and On the Edge while putting things away. I liked those games. I wonder if I can find anyone around here willing to play? Considering you can buy a booster box of OnTE for $5 to $9 off the Internet it’d be a cheap game to get into. I need a game night.

Band Practice

I never really thought that Mexican music has that much in common with polka. We’ve got some neighbors that practice their band on Wednesday nights. Coming across the yards and through the walls there’s a lot of oom-pah going on with only the guitar and bass drums coming through. Going outside I hear the accordion and singer and can recognize the style of music if not the words.

I need to learn Spanish one day.

Really Grinding my Gears

I finished the singleplayer campaign for Gears of War on Hardcore difficulty two nights ago. Best damn game on the X360, handily dethroning Dead Rising. It really hits the sweet spot between tactical shooters like Rainbow 6 and run-and-gun shooters like Doom and Halo.

Cover really matters, the weapons are great, it looks awesome, and there’s no bunny-hopping.
