Iron Man Movie Preview
NEWSARAMA.COM: SDCC ‘07 – MARVEL STUDIOS PANEL

I was able to get into Hall H at Comic-Con to share time with 7,000 other geeks to hear about Iron Man and the new Hulk movie. Newsarama has the best write-up I’ve seen. I’m very excited to see this movie in 10 short months.

Comic-Con is Nigh
In about an hour Amy will get home and we’ll head out to Comic-Con preview night. It’ll be interesting to see how things go down this year. Saturday is already sold out. Fox pulled out of the con with all their movies. I’m most looking forward to Iron Man movie info, the Behemoth people, and anything surprising on the exhibition floor. With the death of E3 it sounds like there may be more game related stuff on the floor as well. I’ll be checking out the webcomics people as well stopping by PA and PvP and Diesel Sweeties.
Comic-wise I’ll be looking at completing my Invincible TPBs, and maybe find a new line to get into.
Does anyone have any requests for schwag or specials? Anything geeky or pop-culture you’d like me to look up while I’m here?

God and Country
At what point is there too much God in your government? NPR was abuzz today with the Turkish elections held yesterday. Turkey has a history of being a secular government since the 1970’s, but with a majority of the population Muslim, much like Christianity and America (for a longer time). The leading party is the AKP, which is based on Muslim ideals. They recently nominated a president who is relatively conservative (his wife keeps her head covered). This caused the courts and the military to step in and require early elections. AKP got a handy plurality and almost a majority of the ministers in those elections. A plurality of the people in Turkey identified with their Muslim beliefs over the secular political parties. In the 4 previous years AKP was in power they didn’t move Turkey towards a more Islamist state, but that’s been the fear all along.
Is a Prime Minister who is a devout Muslim more frightening than a President who is a devout Christian? Is a political party based on the Muslim principles painted with the same brush as an Islamic state run by Shia? Is a political party with strong ties to Chrisitan fundamentalism okay because Tony McVeigh’s religious beliefs were never an issue and are easily separated from the acts of the religion he belonged to? What is the apprporiate amount of any religion in any goverment?

Hello World
Sorry for the lack of updates. Been a bit busy and staying away from blogs in general. Here’s my update executive summary style (but I have no graphs).
- Moved rorschach.net to a new, much more stable, service provider
- Work has been very busy since June
- Work prevented me from going to AK a few weeks ago
- Work is letting up just in time for Comic-Con next week
- My friends at Sword of the Stars released an expansion pack
- Forza 2 with a wheel is the most fun I’ve had in a driving game
- Shadowrun is surprisingly good if you like multplayer FPSs
- I’m slowly designing an RPG (pen and paper) in my spare time
- xkcd is a very funny comic
- Google reader makes browsing 50 websites very easy
I’ll post more next week when Comic-Con gets started. I’m most looking forward to seeing some Iron Man preview stuff.
